It’s your day.

To get the full benefits of the time I have with your guests on your wedding day, I have put together a number of tips to secure all runs smoothly.

I have drawn at almost 400 weddings, with eight years of experience. The set up and correct timeline are crucial but let me share further details with you.

Top Tips

  • Location - Think of where the guests will gather and flow. For drinks receptions, it works best to set me up near or where the music and drinks will be served. If this is outdoors, it should be in a shaded area away from direct sunlight. For the evening reception, a well lite area with access to plug sockets works best. This can often be in a lobby area of the ballroom.

  • Set up - Be sure to inform your venue planner of your desired location and set up requirements in advance. It is never ideal for them to have to go searching for a table last minute and can really eat into drawing time.

(Set up requirements are a desk height table and three chairs)

  • First drawing - Arrange for a member of the bridal party, flower girl or a close friend to come over right away to be drawn. Guests can be hesitant of coming over and don't know what to expect. Once the first person is drawn, the crowds will usually follow!

  • Timeline - Giving an accurate expected timeline for the day will ensure that correct set up and prep time is allocated.

  • Bridal illustration - If you wish to be drawn on the day, I would recommend the best time may be directly after the ceremony or when the meal call sounds and guests are waiting to be seated. The venue will generally offer you 15 - 20 minutes between the meal call and when you make your entrance into the ballroom. Although the day itself can be very busy for you and if you don’t get the chance to come over to be drawn I am happy to draw you from a photograph afterwards, that you can send on.

  • Additional drawings from photographs - This is complimentary for the bridal couple, illustrations of guests afterwards are an additional charge. If a certain guest wants one drawn ask them to call over during the time frame. I am happy for guests to contact me afterwards to arrange additional drawings.

  • Group drawings - The most I recommend to include in any drawing are three guests. When you think a family of five will take me 25 minutes to draw, it really does eat into time for other guests.

Drawing your guests and creating my best work possible is always my top priority, following these tips in advance can secure both.

I looking forward to celebrating your day, very soon!
